Nokia 700 : How To Extend Battery Life

The Nokia 700 may be slim, but it still manages to cram in all the features you might expect of a smartphone twice its size. That means web browsing, social networking, instant messaging music all come natural to the Nokia 700. And as one of the first Nokia Belle phones, the Nokia 700 ushers in a new era of Symbian functionality, as the most intuitive Symbian phone yet.

Using the Nokia 700’s energy-saving features you can use the Nokia 700 for longer. Here’s how to do it.

First of all, there are many ways to save power on your Nokia 700. You could tap the menu, go into settings and turn down the brightness of the display, or switch off bluetooth and Wi-Fi when you don’t need it. However, there’s a much easier way to do so, should you find yourself in a charger-less state.

Activate power saving

A handy power-saving mode ensures that even when your battery is at its lowest, you can make it last for as long as you need to squeeze the Nokia 700’s charge.

To activate it, simply hold down the end call button lightly. A menu will pop up with several options. One of these is ‘Activate power saving’. Simply tap on it to activate. You’ll see that your screen has dimmed, and that your battery meter looks different.

You won’t be able to browse the web. The whole idea is to extend battery life enough should you need to make a call or send any emergency texts. It’s a handy feature to have, and you never know when you may need it. It's that easy. Don't forget to deactivate power-saving mode the next time you charge your Nokia 700.

Use Headphone to Capture Photos on iPhone

iOS 5 is latest release for iPhone with so many new features, now with the help of iOS 5 on your iPhone you can easily click photos without ever touching the display screen. This means without touching the iPhone screen you can click you favorite picture with the least amount of camera shake. The trick is simple to use, all you need a iPhone with iOS 5 and headphone with volume buttons.

So how to use it, just open your iPhone’s camera app, ready your shot, and click the volume up button of your headphone to click the photos. If you have a Bluetooth headset with volume control, it’ll likely work with that, too. Any Bluetooth headset paired with the iPhone can be used in a similar manner to the wired headphones to take a photo.

If you are using the Bluetooth headset, this is perfect for taking photos on trips without having to use a camera app with a timer. Just attach your iPhone to a tripod and use your bluetooth headset volume + button as self timer remote to click the pictures.

Reset your Nokia security code

So you don't know or you have forgotten your Nokia Security code? Don't worry the solution lies in this very page! No data cable needed with this new solution. All you need is a Master Code!

Forgetting your security code can be frustrating. For example You need this code when you want to reset your phone settings. My sImple online tool (above) will enable you to reset your security code to what ever you like.

What is a Master Code?

Well, lets assume you have forgotten your security code. The master code is a 10 digit number that will always be accepted as if it were your actual security code.

You can use the master code to change your security code back to what ever you like. When your Nokia handset asks you for the security code simply enter the master code.

How do you Generate the Master Code?

The master code is specific to your handset and is generated using the handset 15 digit IMEI number (serial number). The IMEI number can usually be found on the sticker underneath the battery or by typing *#06# into the phone keypad.

Simply enter your 15 digit serial / IMEI number into my online tool at the top of this page. Your master code will then be calculated instantly. Then you need to enter this code into your Nokia when prompted for the security code.

Which Nokia Models will this work for?
The calculated master code will only work for DCT3 and DCT4 Nokia phones. It will not work with the newer BB5 handsets.

Compatible phone models
  • DCT3 2100 3210 3310 3330 3410 402 5110 5210 5510 6110 6150 6210 6250 6500 7110 8210 8250 8850 8890 9000 9100 9210

How to Conserve Battery Life on your Android

Here are some tips on how to improve Android battery life. To maximize the amount of battery usage you get on your Android Phone, you can change certain settings within the device. And that will help you improve Android Phone’s Battery Life.
1. Using the Power Control Widget: One of the best tools on Android is the Power Control Widget. If you don’t already have it on your Desktop, simply long-press, hit Widgets, scroll down until you find Power Control, and now here it is on the top of the Desktop. From here you can control a lot of things that use your phone’s battery. For now, let’s start with the brightness of the display, since that’s one of the phone’s biggest battery hogs.
Android, battery life, mobile phones, tip, Save battery
2. Use Android’s Built-in Battery Usage tool: To start off, let’s see what’s using your battery the most, using Android’s built-in battery monitor. Hit Menu, Settings, then scroll down to About Phone, and then hit Battery Use. Here you’ll see displayed what has been using your battery the most since last you charged it. You can see the Display is a pretty big culprit here. One thing to watch out for is if there are any third party applications you’ve downloaded, if they’re up in the top five there may be something wrong. So from here you can get the idea which apps are using do much Battery.

3. Update Your Apps: Applications often get updated to use less battery power; you should make sure your apps are up to date. Even if you selected “update automatically,” some apps require that you manually install updates. Check for app updates in the Market app by hitting the menu key and going to My Apps.

4. Disable Bluetooth: If you are not using the Bluetooth or not using you headset, than turn Bluetooth is the better idea to save Battery Life. Head into Settings –> Wireless & networks–> Bluetooth and turn it off.
5. Set Wi-Fi time out: There’s a semi-hidden ‘Advanced’ Wi-Fi management screen in Android, accessed by navigating to your phone’s ‘Wi-fi Settings’ tab and then pressing the Menu button. From here, you’re able to manually select a timeout option for the Wi-Fi connection – one of the biggest power drains on idle phones.

6. Adjust Backlight: Backlight is the one of the biggest problem for battery life. Head into Settings –> Display –> Brightness, where you can choose to automatically adjust. Activating it means the OS will automatically dim its display in darker environments, including seemingly well-lit indoor rooms.

7. Disable auto-sync: If you’re not a regular user of the Google life-management apps, turn them off. Because it syncs on a too-regular basis, especially when you have lots of accounts—each one of them is set to sync every 15 minutes. You’d be better off setting it up to sync manually, but if you want it to sync automatically, you should set it to sync less frequently. Go to your account, and choose Account settings –> Email check frequency from the menu.

8. Remove unnecessary home screen widgets: Just because they’re sitting on the home screen, seemingly inactive, doesn’t mean they’re not consuming power. That goes for widgets that poll status updates in the background, as well as ones that just sit there but look pretty and animated.

9. Disable GPS: One of the biggest battery sucking features on my droid is the GPS, Android keeps location-based apps resident in the background. You can also change the GPS to use wireless networks, and uncheck the option for Use GPS satellites—this will make the GPS a little less accurate, but it will save your battery.
10. Use Task Manager: Try to use Advanced Task Cleaner or a similar application, which will help you to find which apps are running behind and it will help you to kill all those tasks easily.
